Sounds of the Human World Karaoke Competition

2008-dharma-day-competition.gifThis weekend January 13th, we will be inviting everyone to join us for our Sounds of the Human World Karaoke Singing Competition.

 We will be singing songs from Master Hsing Yun’s poems and gatha incorporated with dharma.

 We have 17 registered singers, a children’s class performance, and a final farewell performance by the YAD (yound adult division)

Prizes will be awarded for the:

  • best performer
  • best courage
  • best clothing
  • best effort
  • best voice
  • best confidence

 Boba tea will be for sale for $3 / cup.  Thanks to our fundraising sponsor Lollicup.

Event begins at 2pm-5pm, so bring guests.  Admission is free.  Donations welcomed!

This event is hosted by the BLIA Orlando (Buddha’s Light International Assocation) and BLIA Orlando YAD (young adult division).

Spring RecruitmentIt’s time for the first semester of the new year.  The Guang Ming Temple in Orlando, FL has lined up several classes that may intrigue you.  

We will be offering the following classes:

Guang Ming Temple - Open House

The rhythmic twangs of Asian string instruments echoed throughout the building’s halls.  With it, people were displaying traditional dances as old as China itself.  Not far from this spectacle, people were sitting around a table sampling tea as if they were master connoisseurs.  It was what one would expect to see in a Far East country, though as authentic as it seemed, this was not Asia, not even close.  In fact, it was smack dab in Central Florida at our own Guang Ming Temple during Open House.
